After a 2 year pause from it’s yearly scholarship grant from it’s establishment since 1958 due to the implementation of the K-12 program, college and university scholarship grants will be processed for year 2019-2020 academic year. Also, the Alma Matter will be proud as much as the DOST scholar’s parent, for the DOST scholarship grant is hard to pass and few thousands will only enter college with a Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) scholarship stamp.
There are 216 test centers nationwide that brings the DOST-SEI scholarship exam closer to Filipino aspiring scientist and engineers studying in the Philippines. As for the 2018 DOST-SEI scholarships examination that was held on October 15, 2017, the record breaking high test takers count of 46,434 students is 69% more than the previous DOST-SEI scholarship exam turn-over. The qualifying DOST-SEI passers are only 5,172 already deemed DOST scholars under the virtue of Republic Act 7687 or the Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994 (a law instituting a science and technology scholarship program and other purposes) which serves the gifted students who belong the financially deprived families. Meanwhile, a total of 3,822 passed under the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program.
The benefit of DOST scholarship is a government initiative in fostering intellectual growth for the scientist and engineers of the future, to help in the formation of talented and gifted professionals, that will serve as a catalyst to nation-building. At the current benefits, the family of the student scholar is greatly relieved of the financial burden of sending their child to tertiary schools, since tuition fees and miscellaneous fees tuition fees go up by a yearly average of 10%. DOST Scholarship Category
1. R.A. 7687
By virtue of Republic Act No. 7687 or the Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994, talented and gifted students who has proven eligible socio-economic circumstance and passing exam scor will qualify with options to select from various priority fields of course such as engineering, applied sciences, science and math.
2. Merit
Previously know as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067, the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program is being granted to students with high aptitude in math and science that will take careers in the fields of science and technology.

How to Apply for DOST Scholarship for 2019?
Step 1
Sign and fill up the information and required fields on the 2019 DOST-SEI Science and Technology Undergraduate Scholarship Application form.

Step 2
For the academic year 2019-2010, the DOST will accept submissions only until August 31, 2018. It is the deadline set by DOST for applications for the scholarship grant, hence be ready to file and submit the mentioned requirements to DOST-SEI office or to the various Regional Offices and Provincial S&T Centers.
Step 3
A mailed test permit will arrive on the stated delivery address from the accomplished form submitted. If for some reasons that the test permit is not received before October 21, 2018 which is the DOST-SEI exam day, student applicants may ask the DOST Regional Office or nearest PSTC. Also verify and locate the nearest test center a day before the examination to avoid any issues.
